Interview with ZedNode, a Zcoin masternode hosting service.
Can you introduce yourself and tell us more about your connection with Zcoin?
Hello! My name is Tim and I’m a customer success engineer at Zednode. I help onboard new customers and work on our platform.
What is Zcoin?
Zcoin is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency, you can find out more at the official website: https://zcoin.io.
What should one do when the Zcoin Wallet crashes or the Zcoin wallet gets stuck?
First and foremost, ALWAYS backup your wallet.dat. I would try to restart the wallet. If that doesn’t work, I would check the official Zcoin github and see if there is a new software update. Finally, I would recommend reindexing the blockchain.
What do the Zcoin masternodes do?
Zcoin masternodes help secure the network by incentivizing stakeholders to run nodes. Masternodes also help resource intensive tasks(like zercoin mints). Zcoin masternodes reward their owners by providing a reward, similar to how miners receive rewards for mining. You can see what the current payout for a masternode owner at https://zednode.com/znode-stats.html.
What are the differences between Zcoin nodes and traditional masternodes?
Not too much at the moment. Zcoin nodes share a lot of similar properties to DASH masternodes.
Can you tell us how many Zcash wallets have more than 1000?
Anyone can view this info via the official block explore here: https://explorer.zcoin.io/richlist
If we assume that all those wallets will host a masternode, how many masternodes will eventually go live?
Based on that figure what will be the ROI in Zcash per masternode?
It’s hard to predict the future, but our tool gives a snapshot of the current ROI here: https://zednode.com/znode-stats.html. At the time of writing, there are 1804 Znodes, with a monthly payout of $4405. That works out to a yearly ROI of ~45%.
What services do you offer?
We offer the most reliable fully managed 24/7 Znode masternode hosting service, with a 100% uptime for all of customers over hundreds of nodes. We might not be the cheapest, but we’re aiming to be the most reliable. We manage all updates/patches and make sure your node is running 24/7. We are also rolling out monitoring/alerting features. If your node goes down, we will notify you. If you get a reward, we will notify you. We’re also working on more reporting features in our dashboard, to provide you with a summary of payouts. We’re also going to be rolling out Masternode shares soon, where you can buy into a masternode with shares of 25 XZC. We will charge a small fee for managing these shares. We are also working on a new mining pool!
What happens if a Znode goes down, will the owner be automatically warned?
Yes, we’re working on adding these alerting/monitoring features to our dashboard. We currently have 100% uptime for hundreds of nodes.
Will you host other nodes?
We are looking into offering nodes for other projects, but do not support any others at the moment.
What is the cost to host a Znode masternode?
$89/month for 1 month
$84/month for 3 months (5.6% discount)
$79/month for 6 months(11.2 % discount)
$74/month for 9 months(17% discount)
$69/month for 12 months(22.4% discount)
Will billing me monthly/yearly?
We offer discounts for longer periods.
What are some other coins / tokens you are interested in and why?
XZC only!
Do you have other favourite masternode systems?
Haven’t done a lot of research, we’re focusing on Znodes.
